Foreign Invasion Theory
A little bit you should know about the theory:
There is actual archeological evidence to prove that the Toltec people have intruded into the Mayan region. This is really what brought about most of this theory. A most recent hypothesis states the lower-elevated south areas of Maya were invaded by a non-Maya people who may have lived around the lower-elevated areas of the gulf region. Some historians have begun to turn down this theory. They think the Mayans would not have taken any defeat so badly that it would have been the primary cause for a complete abandonment. There is one specific group, the Teotihuacan people, that have had very many interactions with the Maya peoples. These dated well before The Collapse, so they could have had an interaction very soon before The Collapse. |
